OWCC are presently negotiating with battery storage developers to receive annual payments starting from 2028 that could be in the range of £150,000 to £1 million every year for the next 20 years. Also being negotiated with Scottish Power Energy Networks is the possibility of a one-off payment of £250,000 to £500,000. We are unsure at the moment of the exact amounts as they subject to negotiation and it is our intention to publicly recognise each of the battery storage developers. Below is the 3-stage process we are following to create a Local Plan that defines how we improve our community. We now need your help as to where this money should be invested within your community. We call it Your Voice : Your Say and this is your opportunity to be involved and shape your community's future. We are taking action now because Stage 1 and 2 can take around 6 months to complete and we want to be ready to investment in projects in the community as early as we can in 2027.

Awareness In The Community
We are presently at Stage 01, which is about awareness. Our job is to make everyone in the community, which includes pupils, residents, business and organisations aware that there are monies coming that can be used to transform the lives of many people in our community. Your action in this Stage is to add your name to 'Get Involved' box below. We are then able to directly communicate with you, so that you can have Your Say as part of Stage 02. Communicating With The Community
This Stage involves the production of a Local Plan that is a summary of how the community will be improved and where monies will be invested. It will involve everyone having their say in the form of an online questionnaire. We will also do our best to help those people who are non techy or have limited internet connection. We will also be holding meetings for everyone to get involved and discuss what matters to them the most. To commence this Stage, we will be making grants to raise the necessary funding.
Working With The Community
This is the final Stage where OWCC will start allocating funding towards local projects that were identified within the Local Plan. There will also be a simplified application process where local residents and organisations can apply directly for funding. As we are receiving annual funding, we are interested in the longevity of projects and the long term benefits that can be created for the people of Overtown, Waterloo and surrounding areas.
